How Laser Skin Tightening Works
An alternative to a surgical face lift, laser skin tightening is a nonsurgical approach to reducing the signs of aging. While the results from laser treatment are not as drastic as a surgical face lift, many people enjoy moderate results with no downtime. At your treatment session, we will clean the skin to be treated.
Our certified aesthetician uses an infrared laser to target the affected area. The laser uses pulses of energy to heat the collagen beneath the surface of the skin, causing it to tighten. One session typically lasts 15-30 minutes, but the time varies depending on the size of the area being treated.
Laser skin tightening can be performed almost anywhere on the body and is especially popular for the face, neck, décolletage, and chin. Results are immediate, and the skin will continue to tighten over the next several weeks. A possible side effect is slight redness, but this will quickly subside.
For optimal results, 3-5 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart is recommended. With repeat treatment, more drastic, youthful results will appear after 3 months. It’s crucial to wear sunscreen when exposed to direct sunlight. After laser treatment, your skin is more sensitive to the sun and should be properly protected.
