Procedure Process Explained

While ear surgery can be a transformational procedure, it is important to understand as much as possible about the treatment, including the initial consultation, preparation, surgery, and recovery. 

Consultation 

At your initial ear surgery consultation, Dr. Mohamed will examine the structure of your ears, ask you questions to learn more about your concerns, and provide professional recommendations for correcting the issues.

In addition, he will discuss other important details such as your anesthesia options (general anesthesia or IV sedation), your medical history, past, and present medical conditions, otoplasty risks and benefits, and what you can expect in terms of treatment costs.

During your consultation, it is also important to ask questions or address any concerns you may have. We are dedicated to building a relationship with you and providing all the information you need to ensure you are comfortable moving forward with the procedure.

Before your procedure, Dr. Mohamed will ask you to undergo a medical evaluation to evaluate your overall health status, avoid certain medications or adjust your medications, avoid all nicotine products (e.g., smoking), avoid alcohol consumption, and arrange for assistance during your recovery. Depending on the type of anesthesia you have chosen, you may be asked to stop eating and drinking at least eight hours before surgery.

Are There Any Risks Involved?

Will I Need to Request Extensive Time Off From Work? 

At Carolinas Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we recommend adults take one week off from work to prioritize healing and recovery. In comparison, children should take off at least one week from school.
